SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is employed to verify whether an email message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send email messages from mail boxes using the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time some email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies if it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however if it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it look as if you are sending spam messages. This approach is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be approved to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature will provide you with the top level of safety, but it is not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you're able to activate the service with ease for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a quite user-friendly interface, so you will not need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mail addresses. You will only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send out e-mails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you have picked. As a further option, we'll also give you the ability to control the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only if the domain in question contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain should be taken care of by us and not by some other company. Doing so you will enjoy even better control and there will not be any chances for anyone to counterfeit your e-mail addresses for harmful objectives.
